ALL ARE HEARD ALL ARE HELD

WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND THE NEW MUSICAL?

9 women join a songwriters group called The Circle to make music but end up making connections that change the course of their lives.

WHAT’S THE BIGGER PICTURE?

Something Eloise and Rachel noticed long before they started writing The Circle is that there are so few parts for older, or middle-aged women. The parts that do exist are usually small, supporting or character roles.

The song "Invisble" in The Circle acknowledges just how taken for granted women are in many roles, particularly in middle age.

Women who have lived have so much to offer to a story, so they were keen to represent and support all women, as the stage and the writing for it should include everyone.

The inclusivity extends throughout their writing and has included working with trans-female and trans women to create an authentic character for the musical too.
